  This route connects Calcutta from two places of historical importance, Patna and Puri. The Patna-Calcutta section stretches to about 225 km, and it will be 30 km more if taken via the Barddhaman-Howrah main line. The Puri-Calcutta section extends to 250 km. The longest section in the route, Patna-Puri, is near about 440 km. Calcutta has all the four terminals, namely, Howrah, Sealdah, Kolkata and Shalimar. By Shounak Chatterjee.   One of the oldest running trains in the country, the Deccan Queen, will run on the tracks between Mumbai and Pune, in an all-new avatar. The Deccan Queen, which recently completed 92 years of service, is amped up with new Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB). Download Deccan Queen LHB

The newest lines under construction are the Mumbai Metro One from Versova to Ghatkopar and the Mumbai Monorail from Jacob Circle to Chembur via Vadala. These should be operational in 1-2 years. Metro Two from Charkop to Mankhurd and Metro Three from SOBO to Bandra are under consideration. An elevated track for air conditioned trains over the current Western Railway line is also being looked into. There are proposals to increase the number of tracks on the existing lines. Other suburban services are the MEMUs which run from Virar to Dahanu and further in Gujarat. The DMUs are run on the Vasai-Diva-Panvel section. Suburban passenger trains are run on Panvel Roha section as well which continues as Konkan Railway, a very beautiful stretch of Indian Railways.   Western Bay route is all about speedy stretch of WR where mighty kings rule. In this route you can explore WR’s Mumbai suburban section from Mumbai Central to Virar as well as stretch between Virar to Surat the last station of Mumbai Division.
